The FS Index.

The FS Index is the public-facing representation of the FloorballStats team rating. It places every currently tracked team on one common 0–100 scale, making differences in team strength easier to read and compare.

The underlying rating calculations remain internal. The public site exposes only the information required to display current rankings, short-term changes and historical Index development.

Ratings respond to results.

Ratings are updated from competitive match results. The model considers more than the final win or loss alone: opponent strength, the type of result, score margin and competition stage all affect how strongly a match influences the rating.

• Opponent strengthResults against stronger opposition carry different information than the same result against a weaker team.
• Result contextRegulation, overtime and shootout outcomes are treated according to the strength of the result.
• Score marginThe model distinguishes narrow results from more decisive wins while limiting the impact of extreme scorelines.
• Competition stageRegular-season and knockout matches can carry different competitive significance.

Comparing leagues.

Teams from Sweden, Finland, Czechia and Switzerland are maintained in one connected rating framework. Domestic league environments provide the base structure, while cross-border competition helps connect those environments and allows the model to express team strength on one common scale.

Season-to-season adjustments also prevent ratings from becoming permanently anchored to old performance while retaining useful information from previous seasons.

Snapshots, not internal calculations.

The historical charts use periodic public FS Index snapshots. These snapshots make it possible to follow a team's rating development over time without exposing the internal match-level rating events, raw rating values, model configuration or calculation parameters.
